While heading for our seats, the smell of freshly popped popcorn drew me to one end of the arena to buy a bag.
Proceeds of the first two fundraisers go to support minor hockey in our community and Chuck a Puck to a different charity each game. It makes me feel good to know that the Sarnia Sting support such great community programs. By the time we had bought our raffle tickets, Chuck a Puck and of course the popcorn, the Sting were off the ice and the Zambonis were out.
The Pre-Game Show started with bees buzzing around the new LED ribbon screen that wraps around the inside of the arena. The buzzing turns into a frenzy and explodes onto the HD videoboard. The excitement mounts with a new pre-game Rocky -like video drawing you into the daily life of what it takes to be a Sting player.
The kids in front of us were bouncing in their seats with anticipation for the start of the game! They stared in awe as each player in the starting line-up emerged almost mystically from the smoky entrance between flaring yellow torches. I love live hockey games.
