Why take yearbook

It could also be because the people in the yearbook club want to feature their friends and are more likely to select their images over others. Yearbook bias can be intentional or an oversight.

Each student is featured once in their school pictures. These photographs are typically organized by class or by grade and are the posed pictures typically taken in the fall.

Does it make sense for one student to be in 10 different yearbook pictures while another student is only in one? Students who are more involved in school activities are more likely to be featured in photos think clubs, sports, class council, etc. A student who spends little time at school beyond what is required is naturally going to be in fewer candid and feature shots.

How can you strike a balance? One strategy schools use is to set a goal that each student is featured a minimum number of times in the yearbook.

Yearbook is a great way to get involved with every aspect of your school. From attending all kinds of different events to mingling with your student body, yearbook gives you a great excuse to stay connected with your school at all levels. With yearbook, the staffers work together as a team to put out a book that the entire school wants a part of.

It has to be a team effort or everything comes off the rails. As a member of the yearbook staff, when you get sent to cover a sporting event, or any other event, you get in free. With yearbook you learn how to communicate better, how to solve problems, how to grow as a leader how to manage your time and, most importantly, how to hit a deadline. Even outside of class, interviewing people for articles and taking pictures of groups at events allows you to put yourself out there and grow new relationships.
