Luffy's Gears have only become more exciting and powerful, and Gear Fourth is one of the most dynamic new transformations in all of Shonen anime. While his character design has barely been touched, there's plenty under the hood that's been kicked up to new gear. Much like Nico Robin, Franky has technically developed a variety of new abilities after the time-skip. After personally studying and adapting Dr.
Vegapunk's early research, Franky was able to transform into what is essentially a Pacifista but with free will and a speedo. However, despite having a lot more guns and lasers within his body, his character design hasn't been taken that well by most fans. One expects some change after a time-skip, but Franky's style change is a little excessive for a guy that fans didn't even know that long in the first place.
On top of looking like a totally different guy, Franky has implemented new gags like his changing hairstyle and his nipple lights which have yet to get a laugh from the community. Before the time-skip, it was hard to imagine how Zoro could grow to the same status as Hawkeye Mihawk. He lost fairly easily to Mihawk during the Baratie Arc; and once fans got to see Mihawk in action during Marineford, the gap between them became even clearer.
However, after the time-skip, fans started to see a genuine path to him beating Mihawk. Zoro copied Mihawk's iconic ship cutting scene and has a variety of new and powerful moves like being able to summon a cutting tornado or slice through a man the size of an entire city. With Wano only powering the guy up even more, it's easier than ever to see Zoro as the World's Greatest Swordsman.
When Gecko Moriah first premiered, he was the creepy and mysterious leader of the Thriller Bark Pirates. With an intimidating size, a lot of experience, and an overpowered Devil Fruit, Gecko Moriah was able to meet several expectations for what the Warlord after Crocodile should've looked like. And while he gave the Straw Hats a run for their money during the Thriller Bark Arc, Moriah couldn't maintain that momentum later on. After the time-skip, he was surprisingly shown to still be alive but perhaps not for very long.
If the Straw Hat cook could beat the 99 masters of Newkama Kenpo dotted around the island, Ivankov would bestow him with the recipes for Attack Cuisine, which provides physical enhancement to those who consume it. Fighting Ivankov's warriors strengthened Sanji's kicking technique and Haki the Armament form especially , and broadened Sanji's cooking repertoire Nami arrived on the sky island of Weatheria - an artificial island that floats but, unlike Skypeia, is able to land on regular islands when necessary.
Since Nami's chief weapon is her knowledge of weather, it's only fitting that Weatheria is a place where wizard-like scientists research climate and meteorology. After hearing about the peculiar weather to come in the New World, Nami utilizes the scientists' knowledge to improve her navigation skills, but she also takes time to create a new version of her signature Clima-Tact pole. The people of Weatheria had developed Weather Ball technology - small clusters of different weather types locked inside a small bubble.
Nami weaponized this phenomenon and now uses these balls to attack opponents with powerful lightning. Usopp didn't cover himself in glory during the first part of One Piece 's time skip. Brimming with tasty food at every turn, Usopp dramatically gained weight in Greenstone, but after seeing Luffy's secret message, he trimmed down and became stronger by avoiding the hazardous plants dotted around the island.
As well as improving his shooting, Usopp found a fascinating new ammunition in the form of Pop Greens. These seeds allow Usopp to fire plant weapons such as bamboo javelins and man-eating fly-traps, and he would master their usage during the 2-years spent alongside Heracles. Usopp's never-ending supply of Pop Greens is explained by a garden on the Thousand Sunny where he grows new seeds. Of all the Straw Hat Pirates, Chopper 's 2-year training period is perhaps the most basic. Kuma apparently knew the Tanuki was a doctor rather than a pet because Chopper was sent straight to the Torino Kingdom, where he befriended both the animal and human populations and resolved a conflict between the two.
As reward for his good deeds, Chopper was led to a library full of medical books about rare plants with healing properties. Spending his time studying, Chopper became a much better doctor, but didn't neglect his battle abilities either.
Previously, Chopper was unable to control the giant monster form triggered by his Devil Fruit and Rumble Ball combination, but post-time skip, Chopper uses the transformation at will. The cotton candy lover also develops a new Kung-Fu mode, blows up his antlers for Horn Point, and gets a fancy new hat. Nico Robin landed in Tequila Wolf, where she was immediately captured and enslaved along with the local population.

Zoro has a level head compared to Luffy and is capable of making more stable decisions, which could be a product of his age since the swordsman is two years older than his captain. Zoro is vicious in battle , arguably the most out of any Straw Hat barring perhaps Nico Robin. Dependable in most areas that do not have to do with giving directions, Zoro steps up to the plate even in the direst of situations, such as Kuma's appearance in the Thriller Bark arc. Nami is the navigator and treasurer of the Straw Hats, and she has a bunch of other skills and small roles as well.
Just like most of the women in One Piece , Nami is quite tall. Although only slightly older than Luffy, Nami occasionally plays the part of the mature sibling; however, this primarily comes down to the fact that she is one of the more cautious members of the Straw Hats.
